Delete Your Account
Last updated: July 24, 2026
You may permanently delete your MindMyBelief account and the personal information attached to it at any time, for any reason, without giving one. This page explains how to do it, exactly what is erased, what we are obliged to keep, and how long it takes.
Delete your account yourself
You can permanently delete your account directly from the app — no need to email or wait:
- Sign in and open your Account settings.
- Scroll to the “Delete account” section at the bottom.
- Confirm your password, type DELETE to confirm, and press “Permanently delete my account.”
Your account and personal data are erased immediately, and we email you a confirmation. Deletion is permanent — we cannot restore an account, your notes, or your reflections afterwards.
First, if you host events with guests
If you are hosting an upcoming event that has registered guests, you'll be asked to cancel that event first (so your guests can be notified and any paid guests refunded) before you can delete your account. Past events you hosted stay online, transferred to a placeholder “Former host” so your attendees keep their records.
If you'd rather not delete your whole account, you can still email us at mindmybelief@aicanadiansolutions.ca from the address on your account and we'll action it within 30 days.
Your faith and reflections are sensitive — and they are deleted
MindMyBelief holds information that is special-category personal data under the GDPR and similar laws: your religious or faith preference, together with what you read, what you saved, and what you wrote in private. We want to be unambiguous about it.
When you delete your account, we permanently erase:
- Your faith preference — the faith you selected, along with your chosen scripture, preferred translation, reading/explainer mode and the themes and categories you picked.
- Your private notes and reflections — every note you wrote against a verse. These are yours alone; they are deleted, not archived.
- Your prayer, devotional and reflective content — anything you saved, marked or wrote inside the app, including highlights, favourites and reactions.
- Your reading history — the record of which verses and chapters you opened, and when.
- Your “takes” — the public reflections you posted on verses, the likes you gave, and the hashed IP recorded with them.
None of this is retained, anonymised-and-kept, or used for training. It is deleted.
Everything else that is deleted
- Your account record — name, email address, hashed password and timezone.
- Your read-aloud usage — the logs of verses you had read to you, and your download counts. Your voice input is never stored in the first place.
- Your event registrations — your name and email are removed from the guest lists of events you signed up to (the transaction record of any paid ticket is retained, unlinked from you — see below). Events you hosted are not deleted: they are transferred to an anonymous “Former host” so your attendees keep their bookings.
- Your business or advertiser profile — if you created, claimed or advertised a listing, the listing’s contact details, images, ad creative and claim records tied to you.
- Your sign-in data — active sessions, “remember me” tokens and password-reset tokens.
What we keep, and why
- Payment and tax records. If you bought a ticket or a subscription, we keep the transaction record (amount, date, currency and the Stripe reference) because Canadian tax and accounting law requires it — generally for up to 7 years. We never held your full card number; Stripe does. These records are unlinked from your deleted profile.
- Copies already given to an event organiser. When you registered for an event, your name and email were shared with that event’s organiser so they could manage attendance. We delete our copy; the organiser holds theirs and you would need to contact them directly. This is stated in our Privacy Policy.
- Public directory data. A business listing may remain in the public directory as an unclaimed, ordinary business entry — but your personal contact details, your claim and your link to it are removed.
- Security and abuse logs. Web-server logs that may contain an IP address are kept on a short rolling window to protect the service, then automatically discarded.
- Anonymous aggregate counts — totals with no identifier that can be traced back to you.
We do not sell your personal data. We never have, and we will not — least of all data about what you believe.
You can also delete things yourself
If you want to remove content but keep your account, you can do that now while signed in: delete any “take” you posted, remove a note, highlight, favourite or reaction from a verse, cancel an event registration, or change your faith and reading preferences from your Account page.
Timeline
We action every deletion request within 30 days of receiving it, and usually within 7 days. Backups rotate on a short cycle, so any residual copies age out of backup storage shortly afterwards.
